Fundraising Tips - Major Community Events

Follow

Here are everydayhero's Top 10 Tips for maximising your fundraising through Major Community Events:

  1. Plan ahead by finding out which community fundraising events your charity might be included in throughout the year.
  2. Advertise these events to your supporters by putting the event information on your website and broadcasting on social media
  3. Contact past supporters to let them know that the event is on
  4. Contact donors to let them know that the event is on and encourage them to participate in support of your charity
  5. Create a charity fundraising team and invite people to join your charity team when they create a supporter page. Set up a charity running/walking team as well
  6. Communicate with your supporters regularly and provide them with resources, such as an electronic welcome pack, images and information about your charity to share on their page or via email and social media with their donors
  7. Offer free merchandise with your branding, such as t-shirts, singlets, or caps to wear on race day. Provide incentives, such as a minimum fundraising amount to get certain merchandise
  8. Use social media to feature participants who are really impressing you with their efforts
  9. Organise a group training session or other social event with participants so they can meet each other pre-event. This could also be used a fundraising day. If you can’t organise something before the event, organise a post race meet up on race day
  10. Thank supporters after the event and let them know how their contributions will help your charity. Provide them with photos, a certificate, a poster or other merchandise as a way of remembering the day
